ACBS Organises Annual Conference at the 2024 HK Filmart

Hong Kong, 12 March 2024 – ACBS held its annual conference at the 2024 Hong Kong FILMART in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on the 12th March, 2024. This year’s conference, co-organised by Salon Media Lab, received funding from CreateHK, and support from Asia Film Awards Academy (AFAA), Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF), International Federation of Creativity and Technology (IFOCAT), China Daily, City University of Hong Kong School of Creative Media and Salon Films (HK) Ltd.

        

The theme for the event was “The Future and Opportunities of World-wide Co-productions and Distribution”. Keynote speakers, presenters and panellists come from the following countries/regions: France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Thailand and the United States. Speakers shared the latest government policies and initiatives in promoting co-production and distribution, and trends in the content business, with an emphasis to encourage cross-cultural collaboration.

 

The Welcome Speeches was delivered by Under Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism, Mr Lau Chun, Raistlin, JP, and Former Director of Japan Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Mr Yasuhiro Maeda. The keynote speeches were delivered by Head of Film Development Fund, Dr Wilfred Wong, GBM, GBS, JP and Ms Charlene Paling of the Entertainment & Media Group at Western Alliance Bank. Presenters shared the latest government policies and industry insights and opportunities of their respective countries. This was followed by two panel discussions, titled “Cross culture co-production financing: opportunities and challenges” and “Adoption of technologies in co-production and the role of education in cross culture co-production”.

 

The event also welcomed  Representative of the Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy of Indonesia, and international and local audiences.
